Quirky Home Fabrics

One of those things that we often overlook but which is integrally important when it comes to decorating our home is the home fabrics that we choose to accentuate the décor. But when you think about it, what will all the cushions, rugs, curtains, blinds, tablecloths, bed linen and more it is really important that you consider these things to create the look that you want. Luckily, home fabrics are one of those items that are most easily changed when you want to update the style of your home, and even with the addition of a few bright cushions and throw, you can really alter the look of a home. There are some incredible and fantastic fabric designs out there, and if you like to have a style that is a bit different and all your own, then check out these gorgeous fabric designs below!

We’ve already talked about the Nordic trend here, so it is only fitting that we extend that a bit with some gorgeous fabric from renowned Finnish fabric designer Finlayson. Finns tend to favour bold and bright prints (hardly surprising when they are plunged into near eternal darkness every winter!) and these can be a great way to add a bit of colour to your home too, which is particularly helpful if you are living in a plain rented apartment. This design is one of their newest and features 2 incredibly Nordic motifs, that of a bear and berries. Use it to brighten up your kitchen with a table runner, pelmet or tea towel, or how about for a kid’s room with matching duvet and curtains. Bold, funky and colourful, this is the perfect Nordic design to bring into your home and you can be sure that it will become a statement piece.

Bold tropical prints are always in and are great way to brighten up your home. While floral motifs can be lovely, if you live with a partner then you might not want to make your home super feminine so a large tropical leaf design is just the thing. This cushion with its large and glorious motif in lovely greens, blues and yellow actually comes from the home range at Swedish fashion brand H&M where you can find some great pieces. One cushion costs just £8.99, so get a few and scatter them round your living room for a tropical effect.

Yet another piece from one of our favourites, Matalan, this elephant motif fleecy throw is a quirky addition to your home. The simplistic elephant design in cool taupe and white colours will go with any colour scheme, and even better, it is completely machine washable so it is really practical too. Cosy enough to snuggle into on your sofa, it is also cheap enough to buy one for every member of the household; it costs just £5. There are other fun throws available in the home-ware range at Matalan, so for a quick home interior update on a budget, check them out!
